The Czech Republic has become the second country where you can exchange a Ukrainian driver’s license, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.
Until then, this could only be done abroad in Poland . In particular, you can exchange certificates in Prague.
“From February 28, Ukrainians can exchange their national driving license in the Czech Republic. The service began to be provided with the help of mobile software and hardware complexes of the State Enterprise “Document” in the city of Prague,” the message says .
It is indicated that the exchange will take place on the same principle as in Poland. In particular, first, the employees of the State Enterprise “Document” receive a complete package of documents from the client, then take a picture of him and fill out an application for the exchange of a driver’s license. In Ukraine, it will be considered by the administrator of the service center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. If the exchange application is approved, then a new document will be printed on a special form abroad, and the old one will be withdrawn.
“If the existing certificate was issued before 2013, an additional request is made to confirm the validity of the certificate at the place of issue. The time for providing the service is increased by the time the response to the request is received. The legislation of Ukraine provides for a period of 5 days for the issuance of a new driver’s license,” the Ministry of Internal Affairs noted.
The department explained that the driver’s license exchange service is relevant when:
- the driver’s license has expired (mostly relevant for first-issued certificates, since they have a validity period of 2 years);
- the driver’s passport data has changed (mainly relevant for persons who have married or vice versa and changed their surname);
- the certificate has been erased and the inscriptions on it are no longer readable;
- at the request of the owner, obtain a certificate of a modern sample.
