BAGHDAD, (Xinhua) — The Iraqi government decided on Tuesday to donate 10 million liters of gas to hospitals in the Gaza Strip.
A statement issued by the government said that the donation was “to help alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people and to show the solidarity of the Iraqi people with the people of the Gaza Strip.”
It did not provide further details about how and when Iraq will send the fuel to Gaza.Last month, Iraq sent humanitarian aid to Gaza through the Rafah border crossing in coordination with Egypt.
On Oct. 7, Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israel, firing thousands of rockets and infiltrating the Israeli territory, while Israel responded with airstrikes, ground operations and punitive measures that included a siege on the Gaza Strip.
The conflict has killed more than 10,000 Palestinians in Gaza and over 1,400 in Israel. The vast majority of the Israeli casualties occurred on the first day of the Hamas attack, according to official figures from both sides
