The spokesperson of the Iraqi government, Basim Al-Awadi, revealed the topics the Emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, will discuss with the Iraqi side during his visit to Baghdad on Thursday.

Al-Awadi confirmed that Iraq and Qatar seek to strengthen political cooperation and unify visions regarding the political situation in the region.

The Iraqi official highlighted the importance of coordinating stances in international organizations and strengthening security and political stability in the region due to its important role in economic growth and investment.

The spokesperson of the Iraqi government illustrated that Iraq and Qatar seek to enhance cooperation in the fields of investment and energy, including investment in petrochemical industries, as well as cooperation in the fields of ports and maritime transport.

According to Al-Awadi, the two sides will discuss cooperation in development plans and major strategic projects, including the Development Road project recently launched by the government and the Al-Faw Grand Port, in addition to energy and fuel projects.

The Iraqi official announced earlier on Wednesday that the Qatari Emir will visit Baghdad on Thursday, indicating that the visit has important political and economic dimensions.
