The Iraqi Prime Minister’s Office confirmed in a statement on Monday that Iraq and Egypt will sign memoranda of understanding in trade and financial fields.
The statement explained that the Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, accompanied by a high-level government delegation, started on Monday an official visit to Egypt, where he will hold meetings and discussions with senior Egyptian officials.
Official reception ceremonies were held for Al-Sudani in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, by the Egyptian Prime Minister, Mostafa Madbouly, at Cairo International Airport, according to the statement.
The Iraqi Prime Minister will meet with the Egyptian President, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, and will hold several meetings with senior officials in the Egyptian government, in addition to the Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, and the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Ahmed Al-Tayeb.
The statement illustrated that Al-Sudani will also meet with the Iraqi community in Egypt.
The Joint Iraqi-Egyptian Committee is scheduled to hold its second session as part of the visit’s agenda on Tuesday.
Both sides are expected to sign several memoranda of understanding in trade and financial areas, tourism, administrative development, and diplomatic training, the statement added.
