Minister of Environment Yasmine Fouad discussed on Friday 20/10/2023 with her Iraqi counterpart Nizar Amedi means of fostering cooperation in a number of environment-related fields, especially that of climate changes.

The conference, organized by the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture in partnership with the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), held in Jeddah from October 18th to 19th. A total of 52 countries and 30 regional and international organizations dedicated to environmental matters will participate in the event.

The conference program include several scientific sessions. The first session will address the concept of green transformation within the Islamic world, examining both the challenges and opportunities it presents. The second session will focus on the role of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies in achieving sustainable development goals. Finally, the closing session will conclude the conference.

The event is held under the theme “Toward Achieving Green Transformation in the Islamic World”. During the meeting, Fouad stressed that climate action requires joining efforts noting in this regard that Egypt can assist in capacity building and institutional development.

Minister Fouad proposed that Iraq set its climate action priorities, work on forming a working group from the two countries, and identify points of contact from both sides to discuss climate and green transformation topics.
